Tragic Fire at Delhi's New Born Baby Care Hospital Claims Seven Lives

This sad incident occurred at New Born Baby Care Hospital in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area on Saturday night which compelled seven newborn babies to die and some others sustained burns. The fire incident occurred late in the night and raised an alert for officials and the Delhi Fire Services. Receiving the emergency call at 11:These is based on a report that indicated that about 9 fire brigades were called to the scene at 32 pm.

Fire departments confirmed the successful operations to rescue twelve newborns from this hospital. Most of these infants have been admitted to this hospital then they were transferred to the East Delhi Advance NICU hospital for further treatment. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that it was a sad day for the Delhi health system and termed the death of seven newborns as really painful. He further pledged that the relevant personnel who were said to have been negligent would receive a serious deterrent. Another prominent government official to speak about this matter was Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, who stated that the greatest penalties would be given to all those entangled in unlawful or reckless acts. 

  The DFS said that the fire started at Baby Care New Born Hospital in Shahdara around 8 PM local time on Saturday night. In their defense, while the center rescued 12 newborns, 7 of them died due to the severity of their injuries. DFS Chief Atul Garg said, there are five infants at another facility and all are hospitalized. The fire was said to have been occasioned by an explosion in an oxygen cylinder that engulfed the building. The corpses of the babies who died have been taken to GTB Hospital for postmortem tests to be conducted. On the authority of the police, the hospital’s proprietor has been named Naveen Kichi though the police promised to prosecute him. President Droupadi Murmu conveyed grief on the untoward incident calling it a horrific tragedy in losing all the children. She also appreciated the work done by various organizations including the Red Cross and called on relatives of the deceased to bear the loss strong and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured kids. Such an occurrence has called for a change, as there is a strong need for increased security measures and sound answers for future occurrences in medical facilities.
