Exports and imports through Dinajpur's Hili land port are suspended today, Wednesday, in observance of Buddha Purnima, the principal religious festival for Buddhists. Despite the halt in trade, the immigration check post will continue to process passengers with passports as usual.

Jamil Hossain Chalant, General Secretary of the Hili C&F Agents Association, confirmed this on Wednesday morning (May 22).

He explained that due to the public holiday for Buddha Purnima, business leaders from both countries agreed to pause import and export activities at the port from the start of the day.

Furthermore, operations involving loading and unloading at Hili-Panama Port will also be suspended. These activities are set to resume as normal on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Ashraful, Officer-in-Charge of the Hili Immigration Checkpost, stated that while trade at the land port is closed for Buddha Purnima, passenger services at the immigration check post remain fully operational. "We are assisting passengers with passport checks and document verification to facilitate travel between the two countries," he added.
