On May 21, state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) announced a 25 percent drop in net profit, amounting to Rs 484.36 crore for the quarter ending March 31, 2024. This decline is attributed to higher expenses. For comparison, the company reported a net profit of Rs 645.13 crore during the same period last year.

However, on a sequential basis, BHEL's net profit for Q4 showed significant improvement. The company posted a profit of Rs 46.31 crore in the December quarter, indicating a multi-fold increase in the most recent quarter.

Despite the profit decline, BHEL's revenue from operations experienced a slight rise. In Q4FY24, the company recorded revenues of Rs 8,260.25 crore, up from Rs 8,227.99 crore in the same quarter of the previous year.
