In Delhi, YSR Sharmila, the founder of the YSR Telangana Party, joined the Congress with former party leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.
In the presence of former party chairman Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday in New Delhi, YSR Sharmila, the daughter of former Andhra Pradesh chairman Minister YSR Rajasekhar Reddy, joined the Congress. She also pledged to carry out any duties entrusted to her and announced the party's merger with the Indian National Congress.
Speaking to party employees and devotees at the national capital's Congress headquarters, Sharmila expressed happiness over the coalition of political parties. Today marks a moment of great joy for me as I announce the integration of the YSR Telangana Party into the folds of the Congress Party," declared the speaker. That the YSR Telangana Party is joining the Indian National Congress makes me very happy."
She stated, "Seeing Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister of our country was my father's dream, and I am happy to be a part of realizing it."
The goal of this merger is to create a unified front and boost the Congress party in Telangana ahead of the next state elections. Recently, YSR Sharmila continuously backed the Congress party in the Telangana Assembly elections.
Given the potential for success in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections, I extend my endorsement to the Congress party. Throughout his nine years in office, KCR has not kept any of the promises he made to the public. And for that one reason, I oppose KCR's ascent to power. In a statement prior to the Telangana Assembly elections, which the Congress eventually won, she remarked, "As YSR's daughter, I take a risk for Congress because I try to pull the Congress vote bank."
The Andhra Pradesh-based YSR Telangana Party is an unrecognized regional party that does not have any elected representation in either the state or federal legislatures.
